Jax Giants take 28-game winning streak into home opener

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – December 17, 2016. That was the last time the Jacksonville Giants lost a basketball game. The Giants have their home opener on Friday night at Veterans Memorial Arena. They will put their 28-game win streak on the line against the Mobile Bay Tornados.

For those that have never attended an ABA game, Giants head coach Jerry Williams provided an example of what fans would be in store for.

“There will be a lot of excitement and high flying basketball,” said Williams. “We want to get the crowd into the game. I tell people all the time. If you’ve ever been to an NBA game you’re not far from that experience coming to a Jacksonville Giants game. The production value of the game is top notch and the guys on the court are great as well. Just be prepared for a great time.”

Last season Jacksonville defeated Mobile Bay in a thrilling 109-107 come from behind win in the ABA Final Four game played in Baltimore.  The game ended the Tornados’ 2016-17 season.
Friday’s game against the Tornados starts at 7 p.m. and will be televised live on channel 17.2 (Comcast channel 225). The re-replay of the game will take place on Saturday at 8 p.m. on CW-17.
