Dressel sets two American records on Day 1 of FINA Championships

Caleb Dressel was one of four gators that began competition at the FINA World Championships on Sunday. In the first day of competition, Dressel set two new American Records, along with winning a gold medal.

He claimed gold in the 4x100m Free Relay, getting Team USA off to an incredible start with his record time of 47.26. The Team finished ahead of Brazil with a total time of 3:10.06.

Dressel's other record came in the Men's 50m Butterfly semi-final, where he posted a time of 22.76. This was the fastest time of the day and earned him the top seed in Monday's final.

In the preliminary round, he was just .01 off the record, recording a time of 22.92, good for second overall.
