Edward Waters names Greg Ruffin football coach

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Edward Waters College will formally present Greg Ruffin as the 14th full-time head coach in the history of the school's storied football program in a press conference to be held on Thursday, December 14th at 11:00 a.m. in the Adams- Jenkins Community Sports & Music Center.

Ruffin comes to Edward Waters from Bethune-Cookman University of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), where he spent this past season (2017) as Tight Ends Coach. Prior to his time at BCU, he spent one season as head coach at Texas College in 2016. He also has experience in building programs from the ground up as he was named head coach for Paine College in the school's resurgence of football in 2013, after the program was dormant for more than 50 years, and Shaw University in 2002 where he revived that program after a 23-year hiatus, guiding the Bears to a 7-3 record in his lone season in Raleigh, North Carolina

Ruffin also has coaching experience at Texas Southern University, Jackson State University, Ouachita Baptist University, Lincoln University of Missouri, and Lane College.

A native of Blytheville, Arkansas, Ruffin holds a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Lane College, where he was member of the football program as fullback, as well as a Master's of Science Degree in Sports Administration from Jackson State University.
