Pink bike highlight of The Players' 'Pink Out'

Mother's Day at TPC Sawgrass a fundraiser for Donna Foundation

The pink theme was not only to salute mothers, but to support the Donna Foundation and the fight against breast cancer.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The pink clothes and accessories that brightened up the green Sunday at The Players Championship was not only in honor of all the mothers out celebrating their day, but also for breast cancer awareness.

The Donna Foundation, a local organization that raises money for woman and men living with breast cancer, has teameed up with TPC for the last few years. This year, a hot pink beach cruiser painted, built and donated by the Bicycle Clinic stole the show.

"I like the wheels which is kind of odd, but I think they're really big and probably easy to ride, said Hallie Wright, who donated $5 in hopes she'll be the one that takes it home. "It looks like a really nice bike."

"This thing is so cool, it's all pink, it's got pink jewels all over it, it's got pink flowers, it is the bomb," said Donna Deegan, founder of the Donna Foundation.

Deegan -- a three-time survivor of breast cancer -- said the main goal of the organization is to raise money for people who can't afford their treatments. She said the partnership with The Players helps the organization in many ways.

"The prestige of The Players is something that is recognized around the world. So, to have our name connected to that, knowing that The Players would support our charity is a very big deal for us," said Deegan.

She said The Players has raised more than $220,000 over the past few years. The bike will be raffled off at 4 p.m. and all raffle proceeds go to the foundation.
