National Champs Ribault wins over Riverdale Baptist

NEW YORK, NY – Even though it took the television broadcast team a game and a half to pronounce Ribault's name correctly, you can just call them National Champions.

The Ribault Lady Trojans, not RYE-bault or Ree-BOW Lady Trojans beat Riverdale Baptist of Maryland 75-49 Saturday in the Dicks Sporting Goods Nationals championship game from Madison Square Garden.

The "World's Most Famous Arena" did not intimidate Ribault against the two-time winner of the national tournament as Praise Russell hit back-to-back 3-pointers at the end of the first half, capping a 10-0 run for the Lady Trojans.

Rennia Davis' 23 points and 8 rebounds helped put the game out of reach early in the 3rd quarter with Ribault up by as many as 22.

Senior Nola Carter added 15 points on 7-7 shooting, Day'Neisha Banks scored 12 and Russell had 11, including a perfect 3-3 from behind the arc.

The national championship is the first for the already storied program, adding it to 11 state championships in the history of the school.
