Jaguars long snapper Carson Tinker out for year

ACL injury in right knee will require season-ending surgery

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jaguars long snapper Carson Tinker has been lost for the year after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, according to the team.

The injury occurred during a non-contact drill during Wednesday's practice.

The Jaguars signed sixth-year long snapper Matt Overton to take Tinker's place. Overton spent the last five seasons with the Colts appearing in 80 games.

Tinker will be placed on the injured reserve list and will undergo surgery after he was evaluated by team physician Dr. Kevin Kaplan.

The affable long snapper has been with the team since 2013 when he earned the job as an undrafted free agent after his career at Alabama.

While in college, TInker played on three national championship teams.

He has endured tragedy in his life. He published a book titled "A Season to Remember: Faith in the Midst of the Storm" about playing on a championship college football team while dealing with the death of his girlfriend in a tornado in 2011. He formed a charitable foundation, the "Be A Blessing Foundation" in the wake of the tragedy.
