SEC announces 2018 football schedules

Florida, Georgia both have off-weeks before coming to Jacksonville

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – While the 2017 SEC football season is in full swing, the conference released the 2018 schedule on Tuesday.

Florida's schedule includes an SEC opener at home against Kentucky on Sept. 8, 2018, an open date before the annual Florida-Georgia game in Jacksonville on Oct. 27, and the SEC regular season finale on Sept. 10, before the Gators finish the season at home against Idaho on Nov. 17 and at Florida State on Nov. 24.

Georgia opens SEC play in week two at South Carolina, has back-to-back home games against Tennessee on Sept. 29 and Vanderbilt on Oct. 6. The Bulldogs also have an open week the week before the annual trip to Jacksonville. Georgia plays their final SEC game on Nov. 10 at home against Auburn before ending the year with home games against UMass and Georgia Tech on Nov. 17 and 24.

Each SEC team will play eight conference football games to include six games against division opponents and two games against non-division opponents. One of the non-division opponents will be a permanent annual opponent and the other non-division opponent will rotate each year.

The season begins the weekend of September 1 with 14 games, including five neutral site games on opening weekend.

The 2018 season will culminate with the SEC Championship Game in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday, December 1. It will be the 27th edition of the game and the 25th in the city of Atlanta.
