WJXT-TV4 wins in January ratings

Jacksonville viewers continue to make News4Jax dominant No. 1


JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – WJXT-TV4 -- The Local Station -- is again the most watched news for the January 2017 Nielsen ratings period in the Jacksonville television market, winning in local and national news time periods for the month in key demographics.

Outside of news, WJXT was No. 1 in prime time for all major demos and the only station to improve prime from January 2016 for the Adults 25-54 demo. WJXT was No. 1 for total day for adults 25-54, beating WTLV, WJXX, WJAX, WFOX, and WCWJ for Monday-Friday 3 a.m.-3 a.m. average.

In morning news, News4Jax dominates the 5 a.m.-6 a.m. hour, earning a 15 share from 5:30 a.m.-6 a.m. for men aged 25-54. News4Jax at 6 a.m. is No. 1 in all key demos. In women aged 25-54 at 6 a.m., News4Jax earned a 3.3 rating and a 16 share (compared to WTLV/WJXX 3.0 rtg/15 share, WFOX 1.7 rtg/9 share and WJAX 1.0 rtg/5 share). The Morning Show (7-9 a.m.), anchored by Jennifer Waugh, Bruce Hamilton and Richard Nunn, is No. 1 in the time period across all key demos, with a 2.5 adults 25-54 rating and a 15 share, beating out all other newscasts, including the national broadcasts of NBC’s Today Show on WTLV (0.9 rtg/5 share), CBS This Morning on WJAX (0.7 rtg/4 share) and ABC’s Good Morning America on WJXX (0.8 rtg/4 share). 

On Jan. 23, WJXT launched Jacksonville’s first 4 p.m. newscast. In just one week, it improved the time period by 50 percent and garnered a 5 share.
In evening news, News4Jax wins 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 6 p.m. for adults 25-54 and also took the win at 6 p.m. in all 18-49 demos. At 5 p.m., News4Jax won with a 2.2 for adults 25-54 and an 8 share. News4Jax at 5:30 p.m. is No. 1 in the time period with a 2.4 adults 25-54 rating and an 8 share.

News4Jax at 6 p.m., anchored by Mary Baer, Tom Wills, John Gaughan and Sam Kouvaris, finished No. 1 with a 3.3 women 25-54 rating and a 10 share (compared to WTLV/WJXX 2.7 rtg/8 share and WJAX 3.1 rtg/9 share and WFOX 1.3 rtg/4 share).

The story continues in late news, with dominant wins in The Ten O’Clock News for all major demos. At 10 p.m., WJXT is No. 1 with a 2.7 adults 25-54 rating and 7 share (compared to WFOX 1.7 rtg/4 share).
