Jim Piggott

Reporter

Jim Piggott is the reporter to count on when it comes to city government and how it will affect the community.

He keeps his eyes and ears open to all the latest developments in City Hall. Jim said what he likes most about his job is finding the story, meeting with people and trying to help others.

He is well-suited for his city hall assignment. He has lived in Jacksonville for nearly 20 years and worked for WJKS, the former ABC affiliate in the city, before coming to WJXT in 1997. Jim said he reached a professional milestone when he joined the News4Jax team.

"It's what I always wanted to do since I arrived in Jacksonville," he said.

Even the best television reporters make mistakes on air, and Jim said he is no exception. So what was his most embarrassing moment?

"Talking like Elmer Fudd during a live shot," he said.

When he's not keeping track of local politics, Jim likes to spend his free time pursuing a number of interests, including renovating his house, reading, watching movies and spinning at the YMCA. His favorite book is "Tales of the City" by Armistead Maupin. The movies that make his top 10 list include "Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean," "Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe?" and "The Manchurian Candidate."
