Rob Sweeting


Rob Sweeting has been an anchor and reporter for The Local Station since 1985.

Through May 2015, he co-anchored News4Jax at 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. on weeknights with Joy Purdy. He then stepped out of the daily news to work on special projects, travel and teach. 

Rob will still be seen occasionally anchoring newscasts and contributing major stories.

Rob served as reporter for a number of WJXT's prime time documentaries, including "Jacksonville's Roads: The Deadly Drive Home," winner of the Alfred I. Dupont Columbia Award for Excellence in Journalism, and "Execution In The Sun."

Rob came to WJXT from the ABC affiliate, WSB-TV, in Atlanta, where he served as a reporter and anchor. Earlier, he worked as a reporter at WSVN, the NBC affiliate in Miami, and WTVT in Tampa, Fla.

Rob is a Miami native and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton.

Rob and his wife, Millicent, live in Fernandina Beach. He has a step-daughter, Leauna and two sons, Ryan and Ian.
