Stunning timelapse shows 6 months of Earth from space

12,500 images taken by German astronaut from International Space

Stunning timelapse video by a German astronaut is giving us a view of Earth from space over a six-month span.

The results are incredible.

ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst snapped thousands of images during his time aboard the International Space Station.

The video is comprised of 12,500 images from Gerst's time in Lower Earth Orbit and includes auroras, storms, lit up cities, glimpses of the Soyuz rocket and the Canada arm as lightning across the Earth.
