No. 10 Florida will be without top 4 pass catchers in Cotton
10 Florida will be without its top four pass catchers in the Cotton Bowl against eighth-ranked Oklahoma. Receivers Trevon Grimes and Kadarius Toney announced Monday they are skipping the game in Arlington, Texas, to prepare for their NFL futures. Their absences leave Florida trying to replace four guys who combined to catch 174 passes for 2,778 yards and 34 touchdowns in 2020. Pitts is expected to be a top-15 draft pick, and Grimes and Toney also could go in the early rounds. Toney might not be quite as fast as Grimes, but he's one of the shiftiest players in the country.
Seahawks stuff Newton on final play, beat Patriots 35-30
Collier stuffed Cam Newton at the 1-yard line on the final play, and the Seattle Seahawks held off the New England Patriots 35-30 on Sunday night. But Newton took over the final minutes and yet another Seahawks-Patriots matchup was decided in the closing moments on a play snapped at the 1. On the final play, Newton tried to run power to the left, but was upended by Collier in the biggest play of his young career. The entire night in a normal setting would have left CenturyLink Field shaking with delirium, especially after the final play. Newton found Harry but was stopped at the 1 and New England used its final timeout, setting the stage for the final play.
No. 5 Florida counting on early help from several newcomers
This much is clear: Florida will rely on a number of newcomers โ some transfers, some freshmen โ as it tries to dethrone rival Georgia in the Southeastern Conferenceโs East Division. The NCAA denied his waiver request to play right away, so he ended up sitting out last season under transfer rules. โHe hasnโt played in live game situations or live football situations where people are coming, running at you to try to block the kick,โ Mullen said. Dexter visited only one school โ Florida โ before signing day. DEREK WINGOAfter losing leading tackler David Reese, who led the team with 94 stops last season, the Gators have concerns at linebacker.
