Creating buzz: Electric scooters, bikes rev up in Downtown Jacksonville
The City of Jacksonville officially launched a one-year pilot program for e-scooters, e-bicycles and dockless bicycles in Downtown Jacksonville on Thursday. Locals and visitors can rent and ride these electric scooters via smartphone applications. โIโm so excited that Micromobility has come to Downtown Jacksonville,โ Cumber said. Dockless Mobility Program Vendors include: Blue Duck, Helbiz, LINK and SPIN. Each company will deploy 100 electric scooters for a total of 400, all operating within the Dockless Mobility Zone (DMZ).
Police investigation blocks some Downtown Jacksonville streets
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Some Downtown Jacksonville streets were closed off by officers with the Sheriffโs Office on Thursday night due to an investigation. The streets included Forsyth and Adams streets from Hogan to Laura streets. A photo from a viewer appeared to show JSOโs defusal robot and some packages near a parking meter outside Giliโs Kitchen, which is on Adams Street. Community honors reserve police officer who died of COVID-19 complications
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ The life of Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office Auxiliary Sgt. Louis โLouโ Livatino was celebrated Friday morning at a funeral service at North Jacksonville Baptist Church. Livatino, 71, died Jan. 27 following a tough battle with COVID-19 complications, the Sheriffโs Office said. @wjxt4 pic.twitter.com/nlWIDqxGBl โ Zachery Lashway (@ZachLashway) February 5, 2021According to JSO, Livatino had volunteered with the police auxiliary for 10 years. No timetable yet when Florida hospitals will receive Moderna vaccine
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Nearly a dozen hospitals in Northeast Florida are set to receive Modernaโs COVID-19 vaccine soon, but the exact timetable is unclear. Florida Governor @GovRonDeSantis says 367,000 doses of @moderna_txโs COVID19 vaccine will be shipped to 173 Florida hospitals.
