1 killed, 1 hurt, in Lake Butler wreck

FHP is still investigating who was driving the vehicle

LAKE BUTLER, Fla. - The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating a single-vehicle wreck at 3 a.m. Thursday that killed one man, injured another and left troopers wondering who was driving at the time.

According to the FHP report, a 2004 Chevrolet was heading north on County Road 238 just south of Lake Butler when the vehicle left the road.  The driver attempted to  steer back onto the road, losing control, rotated and crossed the road onto the other shoulder, struck a telephone pole and went through a fence before coming to a rest in a field.

Brandon Holly, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene.  James Spears, also 40, was transported to Shands at the University of Florida with serious injuries.  Troopers say neither victim was wearing a seat belt.

According to the report, trooper are still investigating who was driving the vehicle.
