St. Johns County deputy involved in crash

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A St. Johns County deputy cruiser was involved in a crash Thursday morning but was not injured.

Deputy Brandon Allsup, 32, of St. Augustine, was running his lights and sirens on a call responding to a suicidal person about 9:30 a.m. when the cruiser collided with another car at Holmes Boulevard and Butler Avenue, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Allsup was heading south on Holmes when a car driven by 48-year-old Lisa Lorenzo, also heading south, was trying to make a left turn onto Butler. Troopers said Lorenzo failed to yield to the emergency vehicle and turned left, resulting in the crash. Lorenzo was cited.

She suffered only minor injuries and was taken to Flagler Hospital.
