Callahan shopping center reopens after tanker pulled from ditch

CALLAHAN, Fla. – A shopping plaza on Stratton Road in Callahan reopened just after 6 p.m. after a tanker truck filled with ammonia got stuck in a ditch on Thursday afternoon.

About 3 p.m. the tanker truck was turning into the parking lot of the Callahan Shopping Center at 200 Stratton Road when some of the rear tires were caught in the ditch.

The Nassau County Fire Department and Sheriff's Office responded. Just before 6 p.m., the tanker was pulled out of the ditch without incident and rescue personnel began packing up.
