A four-car accident late Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 295 between Roosevelt and Blanding boulevards had all southbound lanes closed while an ambulance could land and pick up the victim.
The crash was reported at 4:36 p.m. and the victim had to be cut out of the vehicle. Jacksonville Fire Rescue said it was a life-threatening injury.
At 5:12 p.m., one southbound lane reopened, but fire and rescue personnel remained at the scene. By 5:30 p.m., two lanes were open.
By 5:45 p.m. the crash was cleared and all lanes reopened.
