JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and Fire and Rescue Department are investigating after an SUV crashed into the side of a convenience store on the Westside on Monday morning.
JFRD sources say a 150-pound cylinder of carbon dioxide gas was leaking after the car ran into the 7-Eleven at 3616 Lane Ave. South. Firefighters were called to shut off the gas after the crash, which happened just before 8 a.m.
Hazmat crews were also called but cleared the scene after a short time.
Police said the woman driving the SUV was traveling on Lane Avenue when she tried to make a left turn, and for unknown reasons drove into the side of the business.
No one was injured, and it was so far off the road, no lane closures were necessary.
The business had to be closed temporarily while workers cleaned up after the crash.
There's no word yet on whether the woman will face a traffic citation.
