2 injured in crash on I-295 near Wilson Boulevard

FHP: Driver hospitalized with critical injuries, passenger has serious injuries

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two people were injured when a red F-150 pickup truck traveling northbound on Interstate 295 veered off the roadway and struck a large oak tree Wednesday, the Florida Highway Patrol said. 

The single-vehicle wreck happened about 4 p.m. on I-295, between the Firestone overpass and the Wilson Boulevard exit.

The driver of the truck, Larry William Richter, 58, was taken to UF Health with critical injuries, according to FHP.

The passenger of the truck was also hospitalized and was in serious condition at last check, troopers said. 

All lanes northbound were blocked but have since reopened.
