JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The southbound Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway ramp to westbound Mathews Expressway is scheduled to close Monday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Florida Department of Transportation said.

The ramp will be closed to install structural foundation for overhead sign structures. The work is part of the FDOT State Street, Union Street and Mathews Expressway resurfacing and improvement project.

Traffic traveling south on Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway will detour to Albert Street to westbound Mathews Expressway.

The $13 million project began in December and includes replacement of the Jacksonville Energy Authority’s water main on Union Street and State Street. Final resurfacing of the roadways, starting with Union Street, will begin in October barring bad weather and utility work completion.

The Mathews Expressway segment will be resurfaced during the final phase of the project. The entire project is scheduled for completion in spring 2017.
