FHP: Pedestrian hit, killed on I-95

Troopers say man was running across I-95 south near MLK Parkway

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A pedestrian struck and killed Friday night on Interstate 95 at Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway been identified as 56-year-old Alvin Reginald Jones, of Jacksonville, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Jones tried to run across the southbound lanes of I-95 about 7:30 p.m. when he was struck by a Toyota XB. Jones died a the scene.

The driver of the car, identified only as Joshua, 23, was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with minor injuries.

Two southbound lanes at the MLK exit ramp were blocked after the accident, but reopened about 11 p.m.
