70-year-old motorcyclist killed in crash on I-295

A motorcyclist died Wednesday morning after crashing into the guardrail on Interstate 295 southbound near Atlantic Boulevard, according to authorities.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Doyle Hall, 70, of Jacksonville, was riding south about 9:20 a.m. when he left the road for some unknown reason. The motorcycle overturned and Hall was found on the grass shoulder. He was taken to UF Health Jacksonville, where he died.

The crash backed up southbound traffic for about an hour and kept one lane closed until shortly before noon while the accident was investigated and cleared.
