Cement truck overturns on I-295 at San Jose

FHP to charge driver with careless driving


JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The driver of an overturned cement truck is in serious condition after a Tuesday morning crash that blocked traffic on Interstate 295 at San Jose Boulevard.

Jacksonville Fire-Rescue had to cut the driver, Antoine Perkins, 34, out the vehicle.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the southbound exit ramp from San Jose was blocked by the crash for about three hours and all traffic was halted briefly while an air ambulance landed on the highway to transport Perkins to Orange Park Medical Center.

According to the FHP report, Perkins will be charged with careless driving.
