Driver, 24, not believed to have life-threatening injuries at time

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 24-year-old Jacksonville woman was killed Wednesday afternoon in a crash on the city's Southside, the sheriff's office said.

Jessica L. Chandler was driving a vehicle on State Road 9B North near Philips Highway about 4:20 p.m. Wednesday when she crashed into a stopped vehicle that had been involved in a previous crash, police said.

Chandler was taken by a rescue unit to a hospital with unknown injuries that were not considered life threatening, but she died soon after arriving at the hospital, police said.

Traffic Homicide was not originally called to the scene.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Chandler is the 96th person to die in a traffic crash in Jacksonville in 2017.
