FHP: Pedestrian dies after Jeep hits her in Fernandina

Woman, 73, struck near intersection of S. 14th, Fir streets


FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – A 73-year-old woman died Saturday after she was hit by a Jeep while walking across South 14th Street, the Florida Highway Patrol said. 

Ethal Lovett was crossing the street near the intersection with Fir Street when she was struck at about 5:48 p.m. by Norma Maddox, 52, of Elko, Georgia, who was driving a southbound Jeep Wrangler, troopers said. 

Lovett was taken to Nassau Baptist Hospital where she was pronounced dead, troopers said.
