JSO: 16-year-old dies after stolen car crashes in Arlington

3 seriously injured in crash near expressway; 1 taken into custody

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 16-year-old boy died Monday, one day after a stolen car he was driving crashed into a concrete wall along Arlington Expressway, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said Johnavin Johnson was driving north at high speeds Sunday on Centurty Street and crashed into the center dividing concrete wall from Arlington Expressway.

Johnson and two others in the car, which had been reported stolen, were injured. Johnson died the next day at the hospital, police said.

Detectives said they were investigating an auto theft near Atlantic Boulevard around 3 p.m. Sunday before the crash occurred around 7:20 p.m. nearby at Century Street and Arlington Expressway.

One person was taken into custody after the crash, police said.
