JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A dump truck that overturned Friday morning on I-10 eastbound near Chaffee Road caused a fuel spill, according to Jacksonville firefighters.

All eastbound lanes of I-10 were closed because of the crash, which involved minor injuries for the 40-year-old dump truck driver.

Troopers said the dump truck was headed east on I-10 in the middle lane when a Nissan Versa in the right lane tried to change lanes and hit the truck.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the dump truck driver swerved left and back right before overturning onto its side. The Versa ended up in the tree line, but the 64-year-old woman driving it was not injured, FHP said.

Photos from News4Jax viewer Judy Altmiller showed the guardrail severely damaged near the overturned truck.

Jacksonville firefighters said Hazmat had to be called out to clean up a diesel fuel leak from the truck.
