Pedestrians signals at San Marco intersection repaired

Crosswalk lights didn't work at Kings Avenue and Atlantic Boulevard

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Crosswalk signals at an intersection affected by Overland Bridge Project construction was repaired Thursday, 24 hours after News4Jax call the Florida Department of Transportation about the problem.

At the intersection of Atlantic Boulevard and Kings Avenue in the San Marco area, multiple crosswalk signals did not work on Wednesday.

Pedestrians trying to cross Atlantic Boulevard who pushed the button could quickly tell the sign didn't since there was no light telling pedestrians whether or not to walk across.

Only one of the signals worked at the intersection, crossing Kings Avenue toward the northeast corner. The other three showed nothing at all.

Because of the Overland project, the crosswalk signals are maintained by the Florida Department of Transportation, not the city of Jacksonville. An FDOT spokesman notified the construction team Wednesday, and it repaired the signals first thing Thursday morning.
