JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – All eastbound lanes of Beach Boulevard and Barkley Road were closed Sunday morning due to a traffic accident with injuries. One westbound lane was also closed by the crash for about an hour and a half.
Police said an SUV rear-ended a compact car stopped for the light at Eve Drive East, injuring two people in the car. The driver and passenger were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the second vehicle wasn't injured.
The names of the people involved in the crash have not been released. Detectives said they are also checking to determine if the crash may have been connected to a hit-and-run crash that happened earlier Sunday morning on Atlantic Boulevard.
