2 motorcyclists, driver injured on North Main Street

Troopers: 1 motorcyclist in critical condition, other seriously injured

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One motorcyclist was critically injured, another was seriously injured and the driver of a car suffered minor injuries in a crash on Friday afternoon on North Main Street between Pecan Park and Yellow Bluff roads, firefighters said.

All northbound and southbound lanes were closed for more than two hours after the 1 p.m. crash.

Troopers said a white Buick LeSabre was traveling south on North Main Street as a Harley-Davidson traveled north. A Triumph Speedmaster traveled behind the Harley Davidson, and a Honda VT1300 was behind the Triumph Speedmaster.

The Buick veered into the northbound lanes, and troopers said the Buick collided with the Harley-Davidson, which then fell on its side.

The Buick continued to travel 461 feet while crossing all the lanes. Troopers said the Buick crashed into a tree on the southbound shoulder.

The Triumph Speedmaster driver veered left, and as a result, the front of the bike made contact with the rear tire of the Harley-Davidson. Troopers said the Triumph Speedmaster fell on its left side and slid north.

The Honda driver veered left and the bike's front tire hit the rear tire of the Harley-Davidson, troopers said. The Honda came to a controlled stop on the right shoulder of the road. 

The driver of the Harley-Davidson suffered critical injuries, the driver of the Triumph Speedmaster suffered serious injuries and the driver of the Buick suffered minor injuries, according to the FHP's report.

The Honda driver was not injured, troopers said.

The Highway Patrol said charges are pending.
