Pedestrian dies from injuries after hit-and-run downtown

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., - A pedestrian who was hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash died from his injuries, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

Police said James Monroe Haney, 63, was struck early Sunday morning while he was walking along Union Street near the intersection of North Liberty Street. The driver of the vehicle continued east on Arlington Expressway.

It's unclear if Haney was on the sidewalk or crossing the road, the Sheriff's Office said.
