JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A woman crossing Lane Avenue South was struck and killed Friday night in a hit-and-run crash, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

Police said Anna Marie Kelsey, 56, was crossing Lane Avenue about 10 p.m. near Wiley Road, south of San Juan Avenue, when she was hit by a vehicle that left the scene.

The driver of a black pickup truck and a yellow car came across Kelsey lying in the road unconscious and called police.

Kelsey was taken to UF Health Jacksonville, where she died.

Dean Wilson, a neighbor, said he knew Kelsey for seven years.

"Just awful. It was just, I felt completely numb," Wilson said. "She was a very wonderful, wonderful person ... (She was) very, very giving, and we all love her."

Traffic homicide detectives said they had no description of the vehicle that struck Kelsey. They were looking for witnesses or any surveillance cameras nearby that could help in the investigation.

Anyone with information about the deadly crash is asked to call the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500 or CrimeStoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
