Power pole falls on pickup truck

21-year-old woman taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A tractor-trailer snagged an overhead power line on San Jose Boulevard at San Clerc Road on Thursday morning and the power pole snapped, falling on top of a pickup truck with a woman inside, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 21-year-old woman driving the truck was taken to Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Jewish Community Alliance nearby said surveillance video from its building showed the oversized tractor-trailer snagged the power line and the pole started shaking. The pole fell about 9:30 a.m. on the east side of the road.

The tractor-trailer did not stop, though it's unclear if the pole fell immediately and if the driver even knew it fell.

Two secondary minor accidents happened as a result, but no one was injured in those crashes.

San Jose Boulevard reopened about 10:30 a.m. One northbound lane was staying closed, however, while JEA crews repaired the pole.
