JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman died after she was struck by a car while walking across Blanding Boulevard Friday, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.
The crash was reported about 5:30 p.m. and blocked the inside lanes of northbound and southbound Blanding Boulevard and the turning lanes just south of Wesconnett Boulevard for several hours.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where she died, police said. Her identity has not yet been released.
It is unknown at this time how fast the car was traveling and whether drugs or alcohol were a factor, police said.
Officers at the scene also noted there are no crosswalks in the area.
Detectives with the Sheriff's Office's Traffic Homicide Unit continue to investigate.
