Expedia and the Airlines Reporting Corporation have good news for flyers this year.  Airfares could drop as much as 11% this year.

The company says fares for popular destinations will be the first to fall.  That includes Las Vegas, New York City and Florida.

This is not the case across the board though.  Asia is getting more expensive while the trend in North America is headed towards lower prices.

The reason the price drop took so long is because airlines pay for fuel months in advance. Once time catches up, airfares will fall the same way gas prices did.

Expedia also attributes the drop in prices to increased flights and supply at most destinations.
