JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Expect a messy start to your workweek, with Nor'easter like conditions expected. Winds from the northeast with range between 15 and 25mph at the beach with gusts between 30 and 45mph, placing our coastal counties under a Wind Advisory until 8:00pm tonight. The direction of the winds and the strength of the winds contribute to higher tides, pushing more water into the river and onshore, placing coastal counties also under a Coastal Flood Advisory. The evening high tide is expected to be the highest, with the best potential for flooding. The high winds also increase the level of our surf and risk for rip currents.
The winds will also push showers onshore throughout the day. Chances for rain along our coast are highest, and as you move further inland, chances for rain are much lower, in the 20-30% range for I-75. We could see heavy rainfall totals, especially at the beaches due to training, when showers line up and move over the same areas as they push onshore, making for isolated heavy rainfall totals.

Expect rough seas and surf, with an increased risk for rip currents. Although it may feel like similar conditions with the wind and rain, Meteorologist Emeritus George Winterling explains this is not from Tropical Storm Cristobal, "This morning's rain is caused by a back-door cold front, not tropical storm Cristobal. The tropical storm is now moving away from the Bahamas and will have no effect on Jacksonville weather this week"
Expect Nor'easter like conditions through Tuesday afternoon, with the sun returning in full force on Wednesday.
