Heavy showers and t-storms pushing offshore

Heavy rain disrupts holiday weekend BBQ's

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Well, I told ya so. Heavy rain moved into Jacksonville around 12:30 p.m. bringing with it a few bolts of lightning and heavy rain. While I'm sure some BBQ's were interupted, the good news is the rain won't last all day.

Where there's good news, there's bad news and that is I can't promise you it'll be perfectly dry the rest of the day. I am going to leave a chance of rain in the forecast, area wide, through the evening.

As of 1 p.m., these showers and storms were moving through the beaches and will be offshore by 1:30.

These storms are not severe although we did have one viewer report pea size hail at his home in Whitehouse on the west side.

Again, a few scattered storms remain in the forecast today but it won't be every backyard. We can expect a repeat of this weather for you Sunday as well.

TROPICS:

Tropics remain very quiet as a dominate high pressure has taken over surpressing any activity that might try and get going.
