Weather forecast for 40th annual Gate River Run

The largest 15k in the world is Saturday, March 11th, 2017

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The weather forecast for the 40th annual Gate River Run in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday March 11th looks warm, humid, with a possibly foggy start. 

As runners and event volunteers make their way downtown early Saturday morning, they can expect heavy traffic and possibly fog. The temperatures at 7:00a.m. will be 56° and the dewpoint at that time will be 47°.

The winds will be building for the race, out of the Northeast between 10 and 15 mph. Expect mostly sunny skies- with 11% sky cover. 

At 8:30a.m. when the race starts the temperatures will have climbed to 63° and the winds will be out of the Northeast at 8 mph. The race will be warmer and more humid than most distance runners prefer. Expect climbing temperatures throughout the race. Remember that temperature is measured in the shade, so the sunny portions of the run may feel brutally hot with the added warmth of the sunshine. 

By 10:00a.m. the temperatures will break into the low 70s. Winds will still be building out of the Northeast between 10-15 mph and the chance for a shower is 10%.

By 11:00a.m. the temperatures are up to 71°, the winds are out of the Northeast at 16 mph and the skies are still mostly sunny. 

By noon the walkers should be crossing the finish line and temperatures will be up into the steamy mid 70s. The winds will shift slightly to be out of the East at 10 mph.
