JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Worried about keeping your belongings dry and secure ahead of Hurricane Irma? There are 11 U-Haul companies across Florida offering a month of free self-storage to those expected to be impacted.

Authorities have ordered evacuations for parts of South Florida as the Category 5 storm is expected to make landfall there over the weekend, and additional evacuations could be triggered elsewhere Friday.

In light of that, U-Haul companies in Clearwater, Eastern Florida, Fort Lauderdale, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Miami, North Orlando, Orlando, Tallahassee, Tampa and Western Florida are making 96 facilities across 54 cities available for 30 days of free disaster relief storage.

“Thousands have begun to leave their homes, creating an immediate need for secure facilities where evacuees can store their possessions,” said U-Haul Company of Eastern Florida president Cal Conner. “This is a neighborly service we have the ability to extend as Irma approaches, and in her aftermath. We are happy to assist our communities in times of need.”

To take advantage of this offer, contact your nearest participating U-Haul facility. You can view the full list by visiting U-Haul's website.
