JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two Jacksonville schools will host Hurricane Irma relief efforts Saturday, Duval County Public Schools said.

Rufus E. Payne Elementary School will be hosting a rally at the Washington Heights Apartment complex at 4229 Moncrief Road West from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Staff and students will be handing out food, hygiene products, cleaning products, books and school supplies.

School staff said the rally is their way of showing love and support to community members, who they know have been negatively impacted by Hurricane Irma.

Julia Landon College Preparatory School on Thacker Avenue will also be hosting a Hurricane Irma relief drive from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Satuday.

Items -- including clothes, backpacks, non-perishable food and pet supplies -- will be provided.

The event is hosted by the school’s newly created Positively Assisting Within School (PAWS) initiative. PAWS spent the week gathering supplies and donations from the school community.
