Land trust needs volunteers for Big Talbot Island clean up

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Land Trust representatives said they need a few more volunteers to help clean up a stretch of road on Big Talbot Island.

The land conservation organization will be gathering a group on from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday to clean up the road along Heckscher Drive/A1A between Houston Avenue and the Nassau Sound Bridge.

NFLT adopted the 3-mile segment of road on Big Talbot through the Florida Department of Transportation’s Adopt-A-Highway Litter Removal Program. Each quarter, they assemble a group of volunteers to pick up trash to prevent it from entering state parks and waterways.

Volunteers can sign up at http://www.northfloridalandtrust.org/calendarofevents/. Following the clean-up, volunteers will be served lunch at NFLT’s Milam House.
