FEMA hiring Florida residents to help with Hurricane Irma recovery

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency will be hiring Florida residents to assist in Hurricane Irma recovery efforts.

Jobs are located in Jacksonville, Fort Myers, Miami, Orlando and Tallahassee.

FEMA said desired experience includes floodplain management, cost analysis, civil engineering, site inspections, flood or casualty insurance and historic preservation. 

Those hired will join the recovery team already in place, which is composed of local and federal workers, voluntary agencies and community organizations.

Through temporary local employees, FEMA said, the agency gains valuable community insights, provides jobs and allows Floridians to be on the front lines working to rebuild their community.
