Steamy heat cools slowly, isolated storms fade

Jacksonville's weekend hot and stormy at times

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Today's high temperatures topped out in the mid to upper 90s, with feels like temperatures well into the triple digits. The heat advisory our eastern counties are under expires at 6p.m. as temperatures slowly slip out of the 90s. We are seeing isolated showers and thunderstorms that will fade after sunset. 

Tonight the temperatures will cool ever so slowly down into the mid to upper 70s. Expect partly cloudy skies and light winds.

Saturday is the drier day of the weekend, but we still will see widely scattered storms, with 40% chances to see the rain. Expect steamy hot temperatures, topping out at 97°, with feels like temperatures around 110°. A Heat Advisory may be issued for the mid day and afternoon hours. The storms will slowly fade around sunset. 

Sunday looks wetter, with more widespread chances for showers and storms. We wake up in the upper 70s and warm up into the mid 90s. Expect 70% chances for showers and storms. 

Next week looks wet, with 60% chances for afternoon storms on Monday with afternoon highs in the mid 90s. 

Tuesday we will top out in the mid 90s with 50% chances for showers and thunderstorms, primarily during the afternoon hours. 

Thursday and Friday look even wetter, with 70% chances for showers and highs in the low 90s. These rain chances are based on a long range forecast that may change dramatically over the weekend, so this forecast may change accordingly.
