Warm and windy morning, severe storms arrive mid afternoon

The day starts off calm with a mix of sun and clouds, highs will climb into the mid 80′s. Breezy winds will be out of the south southwest 18-22 mph with gusts 25+.

Saturday afternoon/evening we have issued a Weather Authority Alert Day starting at 2pm. This is due to our risk for strong to severe storms ahead of our next frontal system. The strongest storms look to be across SE GA starting Saturday afternoon around 2pm and lasting through 10pm. Those across NE FL can expect storms from 10pm until 3am Sunday morning.

Georgia, will likely be under a severe storm watch Saturday afternoon through evening. Jacksonville may be placed under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch as well, but for overnight Saturday, say 9pm-3am.

We can expect two rounds of storms for Georgia and a single round of storms for Florida. Jacksonville and south of town will see storms around midnight though the pre sunrise hours Sunday.

The Storm Prediction Center has place SE GA under an Enhanced Risk for severe weather, and northeast Florida is under a Slight Risk. Our main threats with these storms include strong winds, hail, some temporary flooding from intense brief downpours. Tornado threat is a possibility with the strongest threat across SE GA Saturday afternoon/evening.

After the front sinks south early Sunday morning we will clear out and dry out. Afternoon highs will climb into the mid to low 80s with mostly sunny skies.

Monday through midweek the sunshine will be out in full force with highs in the 80s.
