Afternoon downpours shift inland while the heat is restrained by the breeze

More rain for the weekend

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Afternoon storms and showers will shift west of Duval through the late afternoon. Scattered coastal showers will decrease as storms grow into southern Georgia.

Some of the developing storms will drop heavy rain closer to the Gulf coast this evening with late night storms west along the Suwannee River Valley.

Skies will be mostly cloudy with a 10 mph SE breeze and a 50% chance of rain.  Rain chances drop this evening as storms will clear out around the metro area.

Rain picks up Friday with a 60% chance for numerous showers and storms mainly during the afternoon and evening. The timing will shift later in the day and focus back to the east coast into the early evening hours.

The rainy pattern continues through the weekend before easing into the Fourth of July. Afternoon scatted storms Monday should fade by evening fireworks displays.
