JACKSONVILLE, Fla – The weather on the First Coast is set to take a big change. Colder conditions are coming and it will linger into the mid-December.
This will be the coldest air of the season and it is likely to last much longer this time around due to the jet stream locked in a dipping pattern.

Instead of the jet stream making a quick plunge and then retreating northward, the southward dip will linger possibly for two weeks.

Our first taste of arctic air arrives this weekend which will send morning lows into the 30s with the potential for several frosty sunrises starting Saturday through early next week.
The magnitude of the blast is so cold that snow showers could get as close as northern Georgia with a swath targeting the Tennessee Valley and the southern Appalachians this weekend.
Despite the cold shock on the way, record low temps would need to drop way down into the mid to low 20s this weekend which is unlikely. But Friday record minimum max temperatures could be in jeopardy at 48º. Daytime highs will struggle to get past 50º.
