Frosty Friday morning

Sunshine will help snap temperatures higher

By John Gaughan - Chief meteorologist

JACKSONVILLE, Fla - If you were lucky enough to be looking up (and westward) around 6:45pm Thursday, you saw one of the most spectacular sunsets in a long while.  Leftover clouds, from that all-day rain on Wednesday matched up perfectly with the sunset.  The colors were stunning from purple to orange, red, some said they saw green.  This all happened as the sun's rays (from a sun that was already below the horizon) bounced off the bottom of the clouds into our eyes.  Nice!

This morning, frost will be scattered in many inland locations, but sunshine will bounce our temperatures higher quickly.  We should reach into the 60's before lunch.

The weekend outlook has some issues, mainly a coastal low that may funnel clouds and cooler temperatures along the coast.  Leaving only well inland locations to enjoy sunshine and afternoon highs in the 70s.

Have a great weekend!
