Symptoms when you should seek medical attention if you have a heat stroke.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Heat Index values of 103 to 107 degrees are expected at many locations and may be a problem for kids and the elderly. 

The heat is on. Wednesday will see fewer storms and this is boosting highs into the mid to upper 90s this afternoon.

Even while playing at recess it could feel like 102 at 11am today.

When the rain stops temps soar. Just look at July as an example. Each day was 95 or above during the first week of the month as dry air had a stronghold.  Both yesterday and today temperatures will be in the mid 90s as rain takes a pause from the wet summer.

Rain chances increase Thursday and Friday and expect a small dip in the temperatures, 

During extremely hot and humid weather, your body's ability to cool itself is challenged. When the body heats too rapidly to cool itself properly, or when too much fluid or salt is lost through dehydration or sweating, body temperature rises and you or someone you care about may experience a heat-related illness.

It is important to know the symptoms of excessive heat exposure and the appropriate responses. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides a list of warning signs and symptoms of heat illness, and recommended first aid steps. 

Heat exhaustion has some features common with heat stroke like rapid pulse and nausea, but it is important to seek medical attention if you show symptoms of heat stroke.
