Saturated grounds could lead to moderate flooding during downpours

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Round two of rain rolls through the area during the Tuesday morning commute, potentially bringing another 1 or 2 inches and extending our Weather Authority Alert Day into a second morning.

Overnight, heavy rains moved in from the south and west of Jacksonville, with Live Oak to Gainesville to Palatka seeing the heavier rains first, then  Jacksonville seeing/hearing the heavier rains after 3 a.m.

Heaviest of rains will last between 4 and 8 a.m., impacting traffic in the morning.

The good news?  Duval County schools are on Spring Break and therefore this will take the load of traffic down a notch.   Drive safely, have your car lights on and reduce your speed and add distance to the car in front of you.

By lunchtime we should start to see hints of sunshine.  The good news "pours" in from there, in the form of sunshine and beautiful conditions mid-week.
