JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The 39th annual Ortega River Run forecast is shaping up warmer and more humid than runners prefer with the possibility of a foggy start. On Saturday, February 25th, runners will wake up early and head to Ortega to line up for the 1-mile fun run or the 5-mile run/walk. Both races finish and start and end at St Mark's Episcopal Day School which the proceeds from the race also benefit the school's financial aid and scholarship program.
Here's an hour-by-hour breakdown of the weather forecast for the Ortega River Run:

At 6:00a.m. on Saturday morning as the race organizers and volunteers are setting up, and runners are waking up the temperature will be 61° with West winds at 5 mph. The dewpoint at that hour will be 61°, making for a 100% relative humidity level that will feel sticky and moist. Fog is also a strong possibility with this atmospheric setup.
At 7:00a.m. when the runners are arriving at the race and getting ready the temperature will be 61° with West winds at 5 mph. The dewpoint at that hour will be 60°, making for a 93% relative humidity level, and the possibility of fog continuing.
The family favorite 1-mile fun run kicks off at 8:00a.m. and the temperature will be 62° with West winds at 6 mph. The dewpoint at that hour will be 60°, making for a 93% relative humidity level that will have the runners sticky and sweaty at the end of the mile. The sky cover will be 45% and the chance for a shower at that hour is 9%.
The 5-mile run/walk starts at 8:30a.m. and through the run the temperatures will warm into the upper 60s under partly cloudy skies. By the time the walkers cross the finish line the temperatures will warm into the low 70s. The winds will be around 7 mph out of the West, and the chance for a shower does not increase past 9%.
